The Perthshire Brand
Graven worked with partners Spreng Thomson to create a major brand and proposition for Perthshire in order to retain existing businesses and attract investment and visitors. The highly-successful proposition for the area has been widely adopted by private and public sector organisations and celebrates the best of Perthshire’s past, present and future.
We developed a label-like Perthshire logotype and a full suite of brand guidelines to help local businesses express the area’s dynamism and high quality.
The Perthshire logotype is specifically designed to endorse high-quality products, services, organisations, promotions and attractions throughout the Perth & Kinross area.
It is composed of decorative letters and ornaments inspired by Perthshire’s landscape and its distinguished Arts & Crafts heritage. This vigorous world-class legacy encapsulates new ideas and old values, rural-metropolitan ideals and high social and artistic aims. It endures and continues to be celebrated in many aspects of Perthshire life.
The logotype’s curving lines evoke rivers, hills and natural beauty. The crown refers to the area’s ancient and continuing links with royalty. The heart refers to the luckenbooth symbol popularised by Mary Queen of Scots and her connections with Kinross. All of these elements are the foundation on which we can construct new and attractive stories about modern Perthshire.
The project encouraged inward investment, increased tourism activity and a change in perceptions. We also designed a website and printed collateral.
